John Vlok, Vice Captain of the Cycle Power team, started his cycling career on the back of his dads tandem. At the age of 15, he decided to take his cycling to the next level and started competing professionally. Once he made that decision he was a force to be reckoned with, living by his motto “to be the best, you have to train like the best” and that’s what he did. Following an injury almost 2 years ago, John looks at the 2018 seasons as his redemption year. He wants to get back into the racing scene by following moves, creating his own moves and accepts nothing less than a top 10 position when the team is racing for him. John wants to race both road and track at the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games one day. To find his inspiration on the cold winter mornings when he has to wake up at 05H00 to go and train, John listens to No role models by J.Cole. Before he heads out to train, John has a few cups of coffee with his breakfast and then hits the road.
